  • Research a subject
  • Organize ideas in a logical order
  • Be a teacher and practice public speaking skills

Public speaking skills are ranked number one among the skill sets of professionals. Other guiding factors for developing public speaking skills include:

  • Discovering an important component of leadership development
  • Increasing self-esteem, self confidence, and ability to accept feedback
  • Expanding skills for planning, preparation and performance

Presentation Day requires the help of BOTH youth and adult volunteers to make the day run smoothly.

Please register here if you are available to volunteer for one of the positions.

Room Clerk: Room clerks help the day run smoothly. They distribute and collect the evaluation sheets to the evaluators and transport them to the tally room in a timely manner, insuring the event stays on schedule.  Members 9 years and older are encouraged to serve. Members are not required to be participants. An orientation will be held the morning of the event.

Room Runner: The room runner is responsible for transporting completed evaluations to the judging room in between presentations. Members 9 years and older are encouraged to serve. Members are not required to be participants. An orientation will be held the morning of the event.

Room Host: Room hosts play a vital role in ensuring a smooth transition between presentations and making sure a participant is not disturbed during his/her presentation. Typical duties of a room host include; help participants set up and take down their materials, introduce each participant, monitor the door, and keep the room quiet (all phones silenced/off). Members 12 years and older are encouraged to serve. Members are not required to be participants. An orientation will be held the morning of the event.
