The School of Public Policy at the University of California Riverside invites applications for the position of Assistant Cooperative Extension (CE) Specialist in Water Resource Economics and Policy. This is an 11-month position (100% CE) beginning July 1, 2018. The Assistant Cooperative Extension Specialist in Water Resource Economics/Policy shall provide leadership throughout the state to develop mission-oriented research programs among colleagues and universities, and to facilitate teamwork among government agencies, stakeholder groups, and private industry with a focus on promoting sustainable and cost-effective strategies for addressing water-related issues, such as water scarcity/drought, water quality, and flooding. The Assistant CE Specialist will also provide technical support to other specialists, extension advisors, state and local officials and stakeholders in a region and state with an active and vibrant water community seeking progressive solutions.

This policy-oriented individual is expected to have expertise in water conservation, urban-agricultural water use, wastewater treatment and reuse, management of storm water, or related areas. A Ph.D. in economics or agricultural economics, or a closely-related field with a background in water management and/or resource conservation is required by the time of appointment. The candidate must exhibit strong quantitative and analytical skills, as well as strong communication skills.
