SCC 4-H Projects
In 4-H projects children learn a variety of activities where they learn-by-doing. Each year 4-H members enroll in at least one project for a minimum of 6 hours that may last for several weeks or longer depending on how the 4-H volunteer structures the project.
Some projects meet once a week; others meet once or twice a month. These meetings guide the members in gaining the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed to complete their project successfully.
Children learn record-keeping while participating in projects. Project Record Book forms are available to 4-H members for free, but there may be additional costs to participate in some projects (this is definitely the case for most animal science projects).
The California 4-H program offers a wide variety of projects -- so there's something fun for everyone! Several of these projects will be offered at a club near you, but it really depends upon whether an adult volunteer is available to lead them. To assist volunteers, 4-H curriculum is available at both the State and National levels.
